Spiced Date Truffles

Spiced Date truffles with a delicious twist: cane molasses. Molasses has a wonderful nutritional value full of iron and other essential vitamins and minerals. A mere two teaspoons in a batter go a long way. These truffles are great for a snack (not less than 3 hours apart from any other meal) will satisfy your sweet cravings in cold weather. 


3/4 cup roasted nuts (you can pick from walnuts, hazelnuts, or almonds)
10 dates (presoaked for a couple of hours)
2 tbsp cacao powder
1 tbsp coconut oil
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
2 tsp molasses
1/8 tsp salt
Extra crushed nuts for coating
Shredded coconut for coating

Heat up coconut oil on medium heat and add cinnamon, cardamom and salt. Wait for the aroma of the spices come up and take them off the heat. Put everything together including the spices and blend them till you form a texture you can work with. I'm not a fan of making the batter super smooth as I like leaving some bigger pieces of nuts in there. Form your balls then coat them with what you desire: crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or even powdered cacao.
